Honoré-Mercier Bridge: Traffic for the weekend of September 20 & 21, 2014

  • From friday September 19 th 10 p.m. to  Monday Septembre 22 nd 5 a.m. > Montréal Direction > Access ramp from Châteauguay closed

During this period, JCCBI will perform reinforcement work on the steel structure on the federal part of the bridge. Hindrances required for their work are integrated in the MTQ’s lane closures.

Night works on road 132 / 138

Work will begin on Sunday September 14, 2014 and will be completed by the end of November 2014, weather permitting. These works will be carried out at night to minimize inconvenience to our Community members, and businesses. The work is schedule to take place from Sunday to Thursday.

  • Sunday to Wednesday from 8 pm to 4:30am
  • Thursday from 10pm to 4:30 am.

Route 138 will be open to traffic throughout phase 1. One lane in each direction will be maintained in the work zone to accommodate vehicle traffic in both directions.  Proper signalization will be placed to ensure everyone’s safety. Further information about traffic control for phases 2 and 3 will be notified as the work progresses to keep stakeholders informed at all times.

Honoré-Mercier Bridge: Lane Closures Scheduled During Upcoming Weekends

The ministère des Transports du Québec (MTQ) and The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) wishes to inform road users that lane closures will be required on the Honoré-Mercier during the two upcoming weekends.

From Friday, September 19th, 10 PM, to Monday, September 22nd, 5 AM, there will be contraflow traffic on the downstream bridge (towards Montreal), with one single lane in each direction. The Airlie access ramp (towards the bridge) will be closed to traffic as well. Only buses will be authorized to take the reserved access ramp; taxis will have to follow the detour via Des Oblats Street.

Lane closures are required for repair work of the structural elements, under the provincial part of the bridge. Inspection work, causing the closure of one westbound lane (to the South Shore) will also take place on Saturday, September 27th, from 6 AM to Midnight, and on Sunday, September 28th, from 6 AM to Midnight.

Also remind that paving work is taking place on route 132 / 138 in Kahnawake, between the Honoré-Mercier Bridge and Châteauguay, until the end of October 2014. Working hours are Sunday to Wednesday from 8 PM to 4:30 AM and Thursday from 10 PM to 4:30 AM. One lane remains open in each direction during these periods.

Honoré Mercier Bridge – One lane per direction for the weekend of September, 13 and 14, 2014

The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) and the Ministère des Transports du Québec (MTQ) announce the closure of one lane in each direction on the Honoré Mercier Bridge from Friday, September 12, 10 p.m. to Monday, September 15, 5 a.m.

The access ramp from La Prairie towards Montréal (Ramp 2) and the access ramp from Airlie Street towards the South Shore (except for buses) will also be closed during that period. The other access ramps will stay open.

Preparatory work for this project will require the closure of one lane out of two of the Montréal direction, on the Honoré Mercier Bridge the night of September 10, 2014, from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. During this phase, the access ramps from La Prairie and Châteauguay will be closed alternatively on the Montréal direction. In the event of unfavourable weather conditions, the closure will be postponed until the next day, September 11, 2014, from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

On JCCBI side, this weekend closure of September 13 and 14, 2014 will allow the contractor to continue to complete intensive, round-the-clock reinforcement work on the steel structure of the Seaway section in preparation for the rehabilitation of its concrete deck next year.

On MTQ side, the replacement of structural elements will occurred under the bridge. This work will continue from Friday, September 19, 10 p.m. to Monday, September 22, 5 a.m.

Drivers can use the Champlain Bridge as an alternative, since no major closures are planned there for the Labour Day weekend.
