Additional signs
We will install additional signs and proceed to some marking interventions.
Work will be done during really short partial lane closure on Route 132 and Route 138 on Mercier Bridge approaches, on the night of Thursday June 25 to Friday June 26 and on the night of Friday June 26 to Saturday June 27.
Please note that no impact is expected during those interventions.

We wish to inform motorists that tomorrow morning a police officer will be posted near the stop signs on the detour road joining Route 138 and Route 132, from 6:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m., in order to remove the mandatory stop during the morning rush hour.
Striping work will also be done shortly in order to improve the current configuration of the Route 138 and Route 207 junction towards the detour road, which enables access to the Mercier Bridge.

As the users of the Mercier Bridge adapt to the construction and road work necessary for the survival of the bridge, I would like to make two comments about the organization of the detour from the 138 to the 132 side. Firstly, would it be possible to paint lines on the the 138 side from the bus light. There are now 3 lanes merging into two. Each morning, it is unclear which lane merges with which. This morning, the lane on the far right did not merge and the far left and middle lanes were merging. What ends up happening is that once cars pass the bus lane (lights)in the center lane they go over to the lane at the far right to bypass the merge. As far as I can see, there are no painted lines to indicate how the drivers should proceed. Secondly, Would it be possible to remove the stop sign before the curve to the 132? This is creating terrible traffic early in the morning. The stop sign could be effective after 9am in order to allow for better flow of traffic in the rush hour period. Since the beginning of the detour, we have not had any vehicle needing this stop sign early in the morning. I have used the Mercier bridge daily for the past 25+ years and we leave Chateauguay at 5:45 am each day to cross to Montreal. Some of these small problems need to be resolved before September rolls around. Today at 6 am the traffic on the 138 was past the Bingo hall.
Thank You,
Patricia
