Signage adjustments

We wish to inform the public that we are still making adjustments in order to even out the access to the Mercier Bridge in both directions (Route 132 and Route 138).

Since the start of the repair work, we have been analyzing the flow of traffic in both directions on a daily basis. This allows us to make decisions, which will on the one hand lessen the impact on motorists, and on the other hand maximize the use of the bridge.

With regard to the signage adjustments, road marking work will be carried out shortly in order to improve the current configuration of the Route 138 and Route 207 junction towards the detour road, which enables access to the Mercier Bridge.

In addition, we have also noted the disorder involving trucks, which move from one lane to the next, around Route 132. Corrective measures will be taken very shortly.

Finally, it is important to point out that the police officer, currently posted near the stop signs on the detour road joining Route 138 to Route 132, will be in place until a more permanent solution is found.

We are currently looking into the options that are most advantageous to all. We thank you for the ideas that some of you have already put forth.

We would also like to stress that the police officer is indeed posted there to speed up traffic. We are aware that there was some confusion on the first mornings, but please note that you can proceed without making the mandatory stop from 6:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m.

  1. Joe Gagnon :

Would it not be possible to open one of the outbound lanes to inbound traffic. Many other bridges make lane adjustments according to traffic flows, would this not be a solution?
