Major Detour to Access Bridge this weekend

We wish to announce that the access ramp to La Prairie will be completely closed to traffic from 10 p.m., Friday, September 4, until 5 a.m., Monday, September 7. Please remember that access to Mercier Bridge from Châteauguay (ramp 4) is also closed to traffic.

During this work period, drivers will be able to access Mercier Bridge by the access ramp from La Prairie , which will be reduced to one lane. Users coming from Châteauguay should continue to use the detour road setup from Highway 138 in place since June.

In addition, access to Mercier Bridge will be slowed occasionally by traffic interruptions as work progresses.

From Montreal, those heading towards La Prairie must take the exit ramp to Châteauguay (ramp 3), then use the Route 207 exit (Chemin Saint-Isidore) to return to Route 138 heading towards La Prairie via the access road connecting Route 138 and Route 132.

We encourage travelers to use other South Shore bridges and the transit system during this construction period.

Great Web site. when will work start on ramp3

    thanks

  2. Linda :

I appreciate the updates and it is nice to have a site that I could check regularly.
One thing I have noticed. The traffic lights where 138 and 132 meet are no longer being controlled manually. I think I preferred it when it was controlled manually. It seems to me that the traffic moved faster. Every day last week it took me about 45 minutes to get to the bridge by the 138. I realize that there is more traffic now but I still think that traffic moved better when the lights were being controlled manually. At least that way the person could leave the light green longer for whichever side the traffic was heavier on.

Thanks again for keeping us updated via this website and, especially, for telling us ahead of time. By knowing about your plans for this coming week-end, we are better able to plan our own scuba diving activities in Kahnawake this week-end. Well done and many thanks!
